What Our Students and Parents Say…

“My daughter Paige started violin with BSS at the age of four.  At the time, I didn’t realize what a huge impact the Boulder Suzuki program would have on her life.  Not only has she learned to play violin beautifully, she has made lasting friendships with other students in the program.  The BSS teachers have served as wonderful role models as she has matured into adulthood.  As a parent, I couldn’t be more grateful for these relationships as Paige navigated through the tenuous (and sometimes trying) years of middle school and early high school.  Boulder Suzuki Strings not only cultivates a love of music—but I would argue, even more importantly– provides an opportunity for lasting friendships through a kind and supportive community.  Being part of the BSS community was a big reason that Paige had such a positive experience in her adolescent years.” – Karen

“Boulder Suzuki Strings has not only taught me valuable lessons as a musician, but also as a person. I’ve met some of my best friends through group lessons and learned to appreciate music and the community. Furthermore, private lessons with Amy have helped me improve in every area, from intonation, to theory, to double stops, to self confidence. Lessons were something to look forward to, rather than dread (I used to hate violin before). These past years with BSS have been unforgettable and I look forward to continue sharing my music in college.” -Emily Hao

“Our daughter grew up with Boulder Suzuki Strings. From first grade through high school she was a violin student. She recently completed her PhD and the skills she learned in BSS have proven useful in many aspects of her life. For example, as an undergrad she would frequently have to give presentations. While many of her classmates were very uncomfortable doing that, our daughter was quite at ease. She knew how to prepare and how to be in the front of the room sharing her skills. She also knew how to break down a big problem into smaller problems, a skill she’d used to master challenging music. And she had great relationships with her violin and group teachers. It’s so important for our young people to have many caring adults in their lives. And finally, she still loves music. She loves playing the violin with friends, and she’s using her BSS training to teach herself to play the guitar and saxophone.” – Stephanie Scheffler

“The things I learned from my experience with BSS are things I will carry with me throughout the rest of my life. Beyond music, the program gave me unique opportunities to meet fantastic instructors, good friends, and travel abroad. Music is a great medium to forge bonds with, and the BSS program does this while still keeping music learning at the forefront of their teachings.” – Oliver S.

“I spent fourteen years growing up through Boulder Suzuki Strings, and it shaped me into the person I am today. A friendly, tight knit community of passionate students and educators form a perfect place for a developing musician. Teachers care about every student, providing a family-like feel. With so many different kinds of fun opportunities for students and countless performances, BSS prepares you to excel as a young musician.” – Kaidan Larson
